Nice leather material you have there :)
I think the scene looks quite good... looking forward to seeing this scene ;D

the noise on the lamp to the left & the fireflies (or just caustics???) on the couch look serious compared to the clearness of the overall render... plz ask your doctor about it!

Hi Zom-B, thanks for your remarks !

Well spoted btw. The front parts of the couch are some reflective nkDATA (Cr3si), the geometry is quite lowpo and intricated here, I'll see if subdivisions can help. Basically they are reflecting a back-lighted wall, I'll either add one more lamp or set a different orientation for the sun.

I really do not see noise on the lamp itself, tough I did use subdivision for it's arm while the geometry was not prepared for, ending into thin, floating parts (well I could have disabled smoothing but that would have been pointless since the arm's section is square). Perhaps could you give me more details (crop/zoom-in ?) on the lamp issue, if it's not related with what I mentionned ?

edit: the rendering is using camera diffraction.

This project is on hold until May, 31 I suppose ;)

edit:

same image, reported from the previous page for convenience:

stromberg: the leather is a simple phong (IOR=1.13, exponent=55.45) ;)

Realy like the scene youm got there, thanks for giving me the recepie to the leather material :)
I cant help you with the noise issues but i hope some-one can so we can see a clean render of this... ;)

Okay Zom-B, thank you for underlining :) I will seek for ways to ehance that, perhaps by dropping the nkDATA and set a proper phong instead ?

BUT... the couch 'fireflies' are not fireflies actually, just an unfortunate modified grid texture to simulate some scratches ;) I will ehance (strenghten bump there), or get rid of it, simply.

Yeah stromberg, I will not leave that one like so, I work mostly by iterating over older scenes but that one remains second on my list, I want an entry in the current competition ;)

Very neat stuff.
I love the couch.

I would either remove the scratches on the couch or make it more realistic, a diffrent map that is a bit softer maybe.

The mood in that very grainy first image is awesome :)

Wow, sorry for the delay guys !

Yep, the couch texture, being a quickie was a failure :)

Zom-B: simple diffuse ! The texture is a ramp introducing hue variations, based on some noise. edit: its a Maya procedural but ISL should plently allow to do the same thing. Edit 2: Oren_Nayar would have been better for sure !

I like lamps :) here is a clean render using the linear tonemapping:

and the pigs:

CTZn_lamp_01.pigs

Mmm... the <c> value for the phong bump should be -1, own mistake. Uh, non, -0.001

Maya users get the scene !

Hey Ctzn,
I really like the lamp and since you shared the scene, then I took the liberty and rendered it with camera tonemapping and adjusted WB. I hope you don't mind?

Off course I don't mind suvakas, all the contrary I want to encourage interaction !
