[promo entry] public chromy restroom

Post by skypa » Fri Oct 27, 2006 8:49 am

Greetings,

I discovered Indigo a couple of days ago and I'd like to contribute to the promo contest, although I don't know if it fits the standards. Well, I'll see. :)

First w.i.p is the restroom with artificial lighting. It rendered for about 3h and it's still grainy, my poor old cpu will get some support for the final render though.
I think it could use a little dirt and I'm looking into texturing it right, which I find kind of difficult yet. :)

What do you think?

Second w.i.p is lit by daylight. Very grainy, rendered for about half an hour.

So, night or day? :)

Yes, the walls are supposed to be glossy, anyone who shows me a public bathroom with dust dry walls get's a free beer. ;)
C&C is greatly appreciated since this is my first indigo project as well as my first interiour modeling. Modeled with Blender. :)

i really like the colors in the daylight version.
but keep in mind the less direct sunlight you have the longer the noise will stay

Yeah, the night version cleared up a lot faster. :( But I don't mind long render times, I'll just distribute the network slave to a couple of friends who have their computers running over night anyways.

I'm going to update the daylight version as it de-noises.

Thanks for looking. :)

Hmm, I like them, but they feel like a jail bathroom, all the stainless steel :p

Add a bump to the walls and make the sink porcelain and it should look much better. I like the night one best. :D

Alright, here is my final entry. I tried the procelain sink, but it didn't look too good. So I went with copper. I know, I know, there aren't that much copper sinks out there, but I love the reflections and went with it, so sue me. ;)
I applied a noise texture to the walls and changed the wall stripe color to indigo and made the tiles a little messy. It rendered for about 3 hours and should be noise free tomorrow. Thanks for your comments and I hope it'll get into the gallery.

regards,
skypa

The wall texture is a touch too noisy for my liking, but its you who it should satisfy :)

I love the copper sink.

I agree about the noise, so I lowered it about 50%,it should look a bit more realstic now. I'm glad you like it. :)
