real modern living: beds with melted cheese instead of blankets!

overall it looks nice, but its missing connection details and bumps here n there to make it believable. i would also play around with tonemapping settings cuz it looks very raw and burned out right now.

Unfortunately it was too late for this render, tried a blend mat with Carpet and 0-Mat, but as displaced materials can't be blended, I had to use the material as it was. But I lowered the displace value as proposed. I'll give your idea a try in the next wip-shots, but I hope there aren't that many to come, want to bring this picture to an end. And sorry for *.png I posted before, forgot to save it as *.jpg..

Carpet now looking very good imo.
Wall is a bit tough on the eye, though the idea of the patterns is nice. Why not pick a colour more in line with the rest of the scheme?
I'd pump up exponent and IOR (mainly IOR) on your wood if I were you tone down the exponent mat. These wood panels are highly polished.
You can blend displaced mats. Just make sure only the parent mat has displacement.

I guess so, although if I hear translucent, in my ears that sounds like either glossy transparent or diffuse transmitter or SSS...

transPARent is what he meant, I guess...
