Bedroom

Post by Behrendt » Sat Jul 12, 2008 3:40 pm

Hey everybody,
it's holidays now and after 2 weeks of doing nothing at all, except of being sad because my ex-gf, I decided to spent my last free week on a new project in Indigo. It's going to be a bedroom designed by BoDesign. I really like their designs and so I thought it would be nice to have a go on one.
I chose the following - http://www.boconcept.de/default.aspx?id ... ageID=3492
I think it's not thaaaat challenging, but it's months since my last project so...
Current worktime is about 3 hours (including creating textures etc.), and hopefully I can finish it tomorrow.

i think the bed would be a bit inconfortable for the back, besides i would like to see it a little more "shaped" you know what i mean, maybe some curves somewhere or arbritrary shapes...

and, girls can go to f'k off.....hate'em

Yeah, at the moment it doesn't look comfortbale, but the blanket and the pillows, which are yet to come, will hopefully hide this :)

Your bumpmap is way too high.
You should add space on the right to put a small table here.

Keep up the good work ;)

Next Wip, still some things to do, but I think it's starting to come along nicely.

Very VERY cool. Loving the painting, and all the furniture. The carpet is too "bumpy" in my opinion, and the blanket's corners are too round, but other than that its great.

Yep it's getting nice Behrendt !

Agreed with Borgleader crits; A bump map could help for the blanket: mainly pure black, with just some greyish waves here and there. For the carpet, mix the material with 60% translucent, well, see by yourself :)

Very nice woven basket. Is it modelled by hand?
Carpet = bump or displacement?
You should try a cloth sim on your duvet with a dense mesh.

^ I reckon it's a displacement, judging by the fabrics against the wall.

Nice work :)

Thanks for sharing comments and critics. New version is on the way and will cook the next few hours. ;)
@Borgleader
The carpet is intended to be this "fluffy" or did I exaggerate even this aspect? :oops:
@BbB
The basket is modelled by hand. First created a rail-spline with circle profile, turned it little bit facing down the floor, duplicated it several times, and then gave all the spline points a minimal randomness in their position to create a more natural look. Then a few cuts with the knife and deleting sticking out polys, then doing the same thing for the crossbraces, creating a bottom, et voilá. Excuses for my bad language and my equal bad modelling techniques. :oops: :)
@All blanket/duvet critics
It's a shame. This is already a version out of a cloth simulation, but its kind of tricky to get good results with Clothilde. But I'll have another shot on this. Promised. 8)

Well I have one of those carpets downstairs. and well imo it should be maybe...10-15% less "fluffy". unless you like having all those strands going between your toes.

I'm sorry to repeat myself *cough* and since the carpet is displacement,
mix the material with 60% translucent
(as a starting point). Then the displacement could be even slightly higher, the look will be softer *cough*

Transculent = Null-Mat? Explain further. Rendering hasn't started yet for this night. :lol:
