Cheers guys. It turned out better than I expected.

Yep, that crystal looks very much like plexiglas...

(I just tried to upload the tiled floor - wouldn't let me. I think the pigm is too large at 10mb)

absolutely beautiful BbB!! excellent materials and composition.

those chrome pots (doggy dishes) almost make the scene to be a kind of royal curling parlor. perhaps add a layer of ice on the marble?? :P

cant wait for the next pov!

Rather than the the large, chrome stools, what I would like to see is some equipment in the room. Maybe a ladder, some small scaffolding, that type of thing. Perhaps even use the new Cloth features of 2.46 to create a large drop cloth? Make it look like the room in being renovated. Just a thought.

Beautiful image BTW :D

Hi BbB,
I love the second render, I hope you will upload it to the gallery.

How big is the pigm?
It would be a shame to miss out on a BbB material due to file size limits :)

Thanks Ono. Will upload it now.

As I said, the pigm is 10m and after a few minutes of uploading I just get a blank page. I might try again by halving the resolution of the images, but it won't be as good a texture for close-ups... :(

oh woops I see.
The limit is actually ~10MB.
so you just need to make it a teeny bit smaller.

Ok, so I might get away with a slightly higher compression for the maps while keeping them full res. Good stuff. In fact, I packed two different bump maps in the archive. Maybe I'll just omit one of them. Thanks for the tip about size.

PIGM = packed indigo material.
It's basically an indigo material file (.igm), plus all needed texture maps, packed together into a .zip file, but with a .pigm extension.
It's what the material DB will generally use.

Just Reinhardt here and E as a white point. I found the result was quite nice out of the box (Blendigo defaults that is) so I left it that way.

There's a tiny bit of postpro. Levels adjustment in PShop to give it a bit more Oomph. Not much though. As for the story - any idea?

Wow, wonderful atmosphere and execution !!
Cristal chandeliers are really great.
But what I really like among all is this tiny dog

BbB wrote:Hi Alex, Thanks. Everything is modelled here, apart of course from the carpet, which is displaced (in Blender). (the texture was from CGTextures, just made tileable)
Could you upload the .blend or a couple of screenshots (one of the carpet diplacement settings and the original carpet mesh)?. I am fighting with displacement on carpets and I am very interested on it. Thank you very much.
