After finalling the ashtray I thought of adding several other things that could rise the quality of the scene.

I textured the cigarette and addte pen and inkwells and a pen stand and a whiskey glass with wiskey in it. But I had several difficulties with this scene. That is. I should hva ag.nk on the feet of the pen stand and on the tops of the inkwells and on the tip of the pen. But I got some strange error on that one. The pen is made of the same glass material as the ashtray and the whiskey glass. and the pen stand is made off smoked glass. really dark. all heavy and breakable. :)

So, what's the difference between an alpha map and a clip map?

So, what's a clip map?
xD

Well, I really dunno what a clip map is, but an alpha map is a map, which tells indigo, how much of which material is supposed to be used.
50% grey = 50:50 mix
black = fully mat A
white = fully mat B, afaik....
(Alphamaps generally do that)

As far as I know, the difference between a clip map and and alpha map is:

A clip map is NOT allowed to have other values then 0;255 which means
pure white and pure black. An alpha map can have values between 0-255.

I dunno if it's the case with Indigo, but for sure it is with Maxwell ... ;o)

edit: Just to make sure, of course you can call a clip map,
alpha map too ... but I would say it depends on your view. A clip
map "clips" an image ... an alphamap can do the same.*LOL*

But as I said, in most cases a clip map has the mentioned restriction.

I see. So with the smoke, you could create an alpha map that slowly fades out from center. Center would be opaque and fade to transparent.

I agree with ViennaLinux and as I stated in your previous thread. You need to make the cigarette bigger.
