The control of the diaphragm is in "diafragma blade", coordinates, rotation.
Now I´m investigating some things. For example, the film must to be in a fix position (it depends on the camera model) and till now I was playing with the position in order to focus...
So, once the film position is determined, you must try to obtained the IOR pair of crown and flint materials.
Synthetic photography is a "hard play", a beautiful investigation. It has no profesional exit I guess. But maybe for companys like nikon, canon etc. it has some kind of value to evaluate a possible objective before to construct it.

The dimensions of the objective must be precisse to determine the film position and till now this is no a guaranted.

I introduce a divide node (to triangulate the meshes) and normals in houdini.
I think that is a better choice that a phong tag of cinema.

I´m most interested in the 20 minutes image.

Exteriors (with ambient) are a little more faster than interiors (only a little more speedy).
This one goes very noisy. 24 h of rendering.
Vignetting appreciable with the sigma 56 mm objective with double diaphragm.
The noise comes from a defect in the model. Solved.

What you give up if you decide to take synthetic photography...
Path tracing, GPU, clamp contribution, denoise, Open GL preview, etc...
Everything about the GUI that has to do with the camera, pick object, assign material, etc...
Render chanels, etc...
View dependent subdivision, etc...
The ortographic camera is facing the white film.
The camera must be in the 0,0,0 position.
Some day, photo-quimic events will be possible...

Working. Will see if I can do something with this sketch...
1:25.

I´m tryng to represent mold in the lenses, seems like an obstacle. Will see with time how obstacles works with lens systems.
Trying bumps, normals, etc. Hope are with displacements, though. But coatings has nanomilimeters and it is very difficult.

Canon 24 mm.
F-stop 22 (minimum aperture for the objective).
25,1 x 25.1 milimeters.
