Poolhouse

Post by Behrendt » Thu Nov 22, 2007 10:01 am

Just started a new project, because I finally got my new machine :)
So it's going to be poolhouse or something, worked about 2 afternoons on this so far. There's much to do and fix.
My personal To-Do-List so far:
-add a kitchen
- more objects of daily use to bring in some life into the picture, also some acessoires etc.
- redo windows and doors to make them look like they could be used :D
- redo the whole color scheme (ideas anyone?)
- redo the whole grass thing, tried the blender tutorial which worked fine in testscenes, but i will do this at the end so that the large amount objects won't slow down the viewport that much when i need it, and i also want do add some kind of wall

Now your comments, critics and ideas are very welcome! :)

I like it so far. I like how you used exponents on the floor.
When you're done with the modelling, you should consider tightening your angle on the scene. I know it's always tempting to try and show everything one has modelled, but it can end up making your scene look like a doll house.

the colour scheme:
it looks very nice, but you should desaturate the red wall ;)
And maybe, the table should be in a brighter brown :) (wood texture, as the floor?)

I dunno, but I think, the water looks weird...

Matsta, I think the thin bits are just the windows. Look at the walls to the right, they seem big enough...

Shader is nearly the same as CCJ's, but I would've to edit it every time per hand because cinemas-value-system is kinda fucked up :D And unfortunately I don't know how to create a proper water surface with cinema at this time :?

does the water have thickness? It somehow looks like a plane...
Might be the viewing angle, though...

The Water is a cube whichs' sides going a little through the pool-wall. But as said absorption values aren't right yet. But i will think of it when i do the next wip, then we can se if its the shader or the modelling. Btw I got another angle on the pool!

ok, from this angle, it looks far better :)
your modelling is just fine, then :D

As CCJ posted the material, several times (once in the sticky material thread), you can simply copy+replace it in your igs or igm or xml Be careful, to use the same material's name, to avoid bugs ;)

Favorite bit? The tiny bit of grass I can see on the left :)

That red is still making my eyes bleed

With the exception of the red walls I wouldn't mind a little sun room setup like that in my own home :)

I got some problems with rendering a night version of this one. Removed everything that lightened the day-versipn (only the sun :D, so it wasn't a big deal to just chance settings) and made a couple of meshlights. But now Indigo is crashing after a few minutes. Anyone knows what can cause such behavior?

Indigo itself says nothing. After about 20minutes theres just a standard windows message which says "Indigo.exe stopped working" :(
