I lost my heart for that pic, made it my desktop background. Hey, it's not like that's happening often (the background change lol).

I originally rendered it in vray @3840 because I didn't have much time before the 14th =\
This link has larger wallpaper sizes, but it's done in vray lol - you can see the bad AA on highlights ;p http://sentimentalfreak.deviantart.com/ ... -197353412 (1024x - 1920x) - I will render the indigo version higher res tonight.
EDIT: My max crashed and broke the original file, as it does.. A LOT. Not sure it's worth going to a really old version.

And wait, I have a gallery? :lol: I will have to start adding to it.

Here is a little lens test. The (approximately) parallel light is done with an IES-file. I noticed that the lower limit of the smallest angle in the IES-file is ~0,6°, is there a reason for this limit (IES, Indigo, Skindigo)?
(Rendered with little SSS, little Cauchy B Coeff, 170.000 samples/pixel :shock: )

@cotty,

It would be quite interesting to compare the Indigo output with the IES profile provided by the LED manufacturer.

Cool lens test cotty, did you try with multiple lenses in-line allready?

@Enslaver
Indigo version looks ten times better to me 8)

I think this make sense only if the inner construction of the LED is known. In this case I only use a usual design because the manufacturer dosn't show the details in the LED. If I find one with more details, I will try this interesting comparison.

No, I didn't, but I will try that some day...

@purespider: that ring design is pretty awesome, any chance to see it in real life or is it more of a hobby of yours?

@enslaver: best v-day pic ever, desktop and postcard worthy

@cotty: cool test and nice setup, mind sharing the ies-file? And it would be interesting to see what it'll do to lemo's multiple canon-lenses.

There it is, the little IES-file...

I have no clue how I would craft a ring like that so yeah... pretty much a hobby only. Sorry! :?

The appearance of the materials may be less than spot-on though :wink:

Thanks cotty for sharing!

Hey headroom, shapeways is actually pretty cool, but unfortunately it is not possible to print an object with multiple materials at once IMO... yet.

About two years ago (they exist that long already :shock: time flies) I printed one of the cups from the picture (around 70 bucks) to get a better "feel" of the design. (Forget the saucers, they are too extreme) After testing in real life, I modified the part of the cup that touches the mouth (is there a word for it?!) to make the drinking experience more comfortable. Really good for prototyping!
I wanted a truly cubic cup, but the real gimmick is that it is perfectly round inside, so you can stir your drink like crazy without making noise 8) , and that left handers need to buy an extra one :wink:
