Here's a sun-copper-reflected caustics test with the same scene.

even nicer than the other one. I like the orangy touch, is the water made with plane that you derformed to make wave or did you use the fluid sim? (i suspect the first option, but not sure)

Waves are clouds texture used as displacement modifier on a plane subsurfed a few times in blender.

Don't act so high and mighty, I'm trying to kill other ray tracers with it too. :D :D

I'm amazed at how easily the caustics under the water showed up though - great strides have been made since, I don't know .6 (I wonder how hard it would be to get this scene into it and test, actually).

Indigo has changed so much in so short of time.

Nope! Completely forgot to add a portal, Ono!

I feel stupid.

I think this is one of the areas where Indigo has a very clear edge over the (commercial) competition. You'd never get caustics like that with sunlight in any of the other two apps...

I left the .blend on my work computer, but here's how to copy it:

make big box (thick walled)
cut hole in bottom
cut hole in side
toss camera in box
make pool sidewalls
toss a plane where you want pool water
add subsurf modfier (simple) to that plane, level 6
add displace modifier to that plane with clouds texture as input
uv map some cement texture onto big box
add a sun to scene and point it through the side hole in big box
toss a uvsphere next to pool

render and enjoy.

Sounds like a recipe for cookies.

And cookies are only slightly less awesome than Indigo.
