LOL! I wish I could do such nice images! and I guess Stinkie doesn't always focus cause he doesn't understand the settings...

Thanks for the comments guys, the image is just playing with perspective. No postpro, everything modeled geometry (mainly real cubes), all the shadows are real. The orthographic view does the trick. A perspective view would show how it works, and make the image less interesting IMO. A LOT LESS INTERESTING. But if you really want I'll post it later, it is rendering atm.

The 4th cube from the left in the bottom line seems to be somewhat distorted...

I'll just quote my post from the challenge thread.. :)
First Interior render, there is almost no direct lighting (Light from the Chandelier is going through SSS material, and the light from outside is going through the glass, not an easy scene for an unbiased renderer), so it's still pretty noisy after rendering for a while.. I'll need to add some direct lighting in the next update.

This is the "making-of", finally: the same shot shown on the previous page with perspective view.
The 4th cube from the left in the bottom line seems to be somewhat distorted...
Very good eye Silmä!

@Godzilla: if your are not registered on ronenbekerman.com, the image doesn't show up in this forum. At least in my case. Could you please attach a more forum-friendly version? :)

Nice! How did you get the orthographic effect? Long camera lens? You mentioned something about a sensor size...

Couple grass tests with the new experimental Blendigo script with particle support. I love instancing :D

I'm going to need to figure out how to do this... my competition entry currently takes ~2.5 minutes to export because of the 17M+ faces... :(

@StompinTom: Amazing tests, especially the wheat image is colored to richly (not sure how to express this...). Great to see what is possible with a setup that simple (3 objects, no texture) .
For the orthographic effect, I increased lens_sensor_dist in the .igs-file. It defines the distance between camera and lens. Default is 0.02 meters, I increased it to 1. So yes, very long lens.

@Godzilla: I registered to see your image, and it is really pretty good. It gives a great sense of the space in that room. Looking forward to see more!

Man those grasses are absolutely beautiful!

Could you just use the quick export feature Godzilla? I think it just updates the igs and not the meshes, so it gives you opportunity to play with materials and avoid the long export times.
