Wow dude... you CAN put all of that stuff into *one* post you know...
From uncyclopedia.org, on "Elephant's Dream":

About the chipped glass thing... Turn up your super-sampling factor, the high contrast edges aren't smooth.

Yeah.... actually, it's more "weird" with 7 posts in the span of about 10 minutes... Heh, it's ok.

*pats n00b on the head*
Good n00b!

thx.
for the the chips : the model was messed up in Blender to begin with,
I used boolean ops & got weird normals or something.

also, I need to learn how to control the 'smoothed' (subsurf ?) parts on different parts of an object. here everything ends up 'smoothed' !

yeah, I like that unfinished plywood look too !
there's suppose to be a specular map, but when I started testing textures,
I tried w. diffuse map,
then added bump map ..

I recently tried w. the specular map & didn't get nice results,
again I gave up after a couple of tests. ;-)

I was playing with camera tonemapping and glare and came up with this. Thought I'd post it eventhough it'd still need some rendering time.
