Could you provide however, a step-by-step instruction on how to set a material like this up? Looking at the material in the editor, there seems to be a lot going on!

I used the material editor in 3DS max, because I am a little more familiar with it than the indigo editor. But, in the indigo editor I find it easier to work backwards.

----Make phong (with diffuse grass texture) (set smoothness to ~10-500)
----Make Rough Single Sided Transmitter (with diffuse grass texture)
---Make a blend material and blend the previous two (the blend val will give you the amount of sss:phong (0.0-1.0))
--Make a null material
-Make a blend material (select the null and previous blend material, set the blend fraction to texture and choose your alpha map)

Should look like this in the editor:

>Blend (blends the null+next blend using opacity map)
>>Null
>>>Blend (blends the phong+rough single surface transmitter to allow you to change amount of solid/sss)
>>>>Phong
>>>>>Rough single surface transmitter

quick render - 4hours on single machine. Postpro : only curves and little bit of CA. Lens effects directly from indigo.

thanks guys, its not IES. i used small emitters (4x4cm planes / 35w per plane)
no obstacle map, just aperture diffraction and 6blades instead of circular aperture shape.

Very much work in progress, for a project at a site in Brighton. Grass probably too straight, variation in plantation - but hey, I'm no horticultural expert¬ :P

Looks good, like the grass as usual :) Rotate some of your trees though, they're a bit obviously identical....They're good trees though, off the 3D warehouse?

Ok a WIP, not sure where to go with it now. Theres something I don't like about it, but can't put my finger on it. Probably because I'm no architect so my house design is...odd. But hey Ho. What would you do to it dudes of the forum?

If it's all sketchup I have to say it is pretty darn good!
I'm especially interested in the grass and flowers' technique and models. How are they done?

The Dudes of the Forum would do the following:

- try some displacement on the yellowisch stone where your ivy is.
- The Planks of the outer wooden material look quite tinny compared to the size of the door for example
- some interrior in the extruded balcony style area on top left

Its all sketchup. I'm too dumb to use any more complex modelling packages

Grass and flowers (and ivy), all done with the fur plugin for Sketchup - grass we covered a few pages back in this very thread (thanks to tar_gniK), flowers are just a tiny little circle componant coloured pink, then used the fur plugin to scatter them about and then moved them all up vertically so that they sit on top of the grass.

Now, I tried some displacement on the stone - works fine when its just the stone, as soon as I start drawing freehand areas for the ivy when I render, the stone gets those displacement errors, straight lines running through it at random points (see my wall and grass images a few pages back for what I mean).

I could try offsetting the ivy slightly so that the stone remains as a single face, not a divided one.

Yes, planks are perhaps too small. I will enlarge and see what it looks like

Interior! If I get time I'll put something in.

Cool, thanks chaps :)

Edit: Suppose I ought to put some dirt or something at the bottom right, the grass is just springing magically from the concrete at the moment....
