Finally got some time...Interior...again

Post by afecelis » Fri Oct 26, 2007 11:23 am

Hey guys!
Long time no post! ;) I finally got a break and I can do what I like the most...renders! This one is a scene I put up to test LuxRender but I also decided to give 09 stable a go. 2 hours of render, still cooking:

Suggestions and ideas are welcome! ;)

Looks nice, just something about the floor, a bit too bumpy maybe? Or put a rug under the table? Looks kinda cold without the rug :)

thanks Joe ;) . Yup, you're right. Even the space itself is a bit cold so I'd better put some more stuff in to warm it up a bit. I'll also check the bump. The rug idea is great! :D

Alvaro

I like the very bumpy floor. Just like real floor boards. Although, they'd be a bit bigger than that if they were real floor boards. Well, the ones I've seen.

Hey Davec! Thanks! The plank size is also a good suggestion! How about the glossiness? Is it that glossy or is it more matte?
Working on the new version right now! ;)

Nice to see this one without all the fireflies! (in reference to your Lux testing)

heheh, yup, It's truly pleasing ;) But I'm sure Lux will catch up fast! ;) I'm eagerly waiting for RC3 and exporter 0.9 to see the scene with uv maps and bugfixes. Also remember that Lux is just a baby compared to Indigo.
Besides that, I feel the code in Indigo 0.9 is so darn fast! A real pleasure to use.

about to start rendering the new scene. Warming up the engine! ;)

hi afecelis,
a very good image! :D
i agree with joegiampaoli for the bump. the size could be right (my parquet has that size).
i really like the couch
courious to see this with a more hot light.

Hey Alvaro :D
Could you raise down your bump? I like it, but it looks like someone bombed your floor
Instead of the painting, that's really old fashioned compared to your room, could you put an aquarium on the wall ??
Magazines seem to be a bit too big in their format, but i can be wrong
Best greets from Italy!

hehehe, thanks for all the comments guys! ;)
here's the new version, 11 hours of render:
Image
@Slamdog: about parquet size, I made it bigger in this version :( About a warmer light, I think I'll try a version with a skylight and portals next :). About new KT version...the team's working really hard on testing it but Giannis hasn't said anything about release dates, yet the version being tested is a relese candidate, so it should be soon ;) Believe me it's gonna be worth the wait! Next release looks, feels and works amazingly! I'm also testing this scene in KT2007 official. Thanks for your comments and suggestions.
@Phr0stByte: I still used the same bump value. But the rug might cover it a bit. I'll lower it a bit in next version.
@SURFING: heheh, I agree with the painting, but I needed something on that empty wall! so for this test I started out with a picture, and since there's not much blue around I went with a country scene with some sky in it ;) The aquarium ideas sounds cool, but becomes a whole new material challenge for me, glass for the aquarium, water inside of it, etc etc etc. If you got any ideas or suggestions I'm all ears. And you mean the aquarium just standing there on a base, behind the couch? or opening a hole for it on the wall? About the mags, these ones are really big, usually fashion magazines come in this type of format, but I'll double check their measures.

Thanks everyone! :D Starting the new version now.

very nice, two comments. ditch the suzannes on the shelf. they add nothing to the scene, just make it look like u didnt have time to model in tht esmall details ;) secondly i reckon the rug doesnt fit the style of the room, if you are going to go for a pattern it needs to be stylish and luxurios, otherwise just go for a plain rug that matches the style of the sofas.

keep it up

thanks matsa! ;)
You're right about the suzannes. You never know if it's a subliminal way of saying you used blender to model your stuff, or that you had nothing to put to fill up a space. In this case, to be honest, it's more the second ;). I was originally planning to put some books there. I'll try to get the books working. About the rug, you're darn right again. I know this one looks like a table cloth, but I used it for color-contrast purposes. If you guys got any links to cool designs please post them here ;). I'm looking for a better design now.

Keep'em coming! Thanks for all the feedback!
regards,
Alvaro
