Making a swiss army knife - now I gotta figure out Blenders screw tool to make the corkscrew. I think this is the first model that is all me - no looking at a tutorial.

Wow!
great!
You need to find a text or logo texture for it, though. It's a bit botinhg, like that.
and an exponent + bump - scratch and alpha map :D

Then, and if you have the screw, it's perfect :D

Not to worry - this was just the first test render. The model is not complete yet. Might even throw in a compass and a Playboy magazine, and title it "Survival Tools"... LOL
I already have the idea of the Swiss symbol chrome inlay will be changed to a chrome Indigo inlay.

LOL - thanks, but Blender still has a lot of cool features left to sort out. I'm just getting a solid base before I start messing with more advanced things.

Basically a spam bot found a reference to swiss army knifes and decided it was a good opportunity to do some advertising.

Heh - I have not used Blender or indigo for quite a long time, as when it went commercial, I just could not afford it. I use Maya now and mental ray is very comfortable for rendering, though I do dabble with Octane quite a bit. Here is a re-model and re-render with maya and mental ray:
