Interior Room Scene

Post by scorpius » Wed Sep 06, 2006 3:01 pm

Here's another truly simple scene: a completely closed room with only one small opening. (Regular path-tracing could have so much trouble with scenes like this.) To test the MLT algorithm, I let it run for 25 hours. It still has some noise but the light-bounce and shadows are really nice and they look so accurate. And the colors came out rather pleasant, but only after adjusting the gamma and exposure. Thanks to exr output this was easily accomplished without much limit -- I made the same adjustments on the 8-bit version and the results were bad. The spheres have an aluminum material and everything else is lambertian.

Thanks, guys. Yes, it is warm. Perhaps the angle of the sun and the tan-colored floor is reflecting a warm color. In fact, the ceiling is pure white but it looks like the floor.
