Hi,
following that old thread, I think it is worth opening a new one for that single scene, because it should take more time than expected to complete.

Some updates : the puppet body is almost completly textured (here with two different lightings, just for test).
And for a bit of fun, the same puppet drowned into honey, thanks to blender's fluid sim.

It turned good, so I will keep that idea for the final composition.

Dear doctor, your work is awesome. This is *insert here the dithyrambic adjective of your choice* !
I think your posts should be isolated in a "warning - humbling renders" area of the site, in order to prevent me (and maybe others) from falling in depression when comparing my feeble attempts to your masterpieces :P

Another crappy render. Tacky textures bad modelling and use of worthless tools. Back in the old days we had good solid renders of untextured cubes using MLT meshlight rendering. I cant believe at what crappy direction the Indigo renderer and the community work is taking!

hell back in the day we wouldnt even bother with this whole rendering bullshit. wed carve and paint real sculptures from trees we cut down ourselves, like real men.

the honey doesnt do it for me, at least in that picture, but the effect is cool. i still like the (now) second image the best. what if you tried more high contrast studio lighting?

No, my hands are a failed experiment by the Danish government.
If any person sees me or my hand, they will be killed with a carebear, and i will be spanked till eternity with a wet newspaper.

I might get an almost lethal nippletwister just for telling you this.
