X-8 Human Robot

Post by Colezero » Sun Mar 11, 2007 9:21 am

Hello and greetings to you.

This is my X-8 Robot.

Image

I've worked a few hours on this model and its quite not finished yet, there is a lack of details and the hands a not finished yet.
In the next few days iam going to add more details, more wires, etc.
and of course the hands.

This is a test render with indigo .7 test 5.
The Materials are chrome and some sss.

But i've got some questions or some problems:

1)
If you take a look at the forearms, i just can't add a sss material, because if i render the image with a sss material on the forearms, the arms are just black, i don't know why this happens.
i already checked the normals, they are ok, hopefully. So i simply added a simple diffuse material on the forearms and as you see there are some small artifacts...

2)
Same Problem with the feed, if i try to add SSS to the feed they are just black in the final render. Thats weird, because i can add SSS on the torso with no problem.

3)
The Muscles, or better, the muscle-tips, as you see on the screenshot image, the muscle tips are grey, not black, but they are not defined by a vertex-group, the tips are seperated models. they got their own material, a plain grey deffuse, but in the render they are black. Why?

Hopefully you understand what my problems are^^
So Thanks in advance

The robot looks good, but your rendering is way too dark.
I did a quick colour adjustment. I hope you don't mind...

@OnoSendai:
No problem, if i don't come up with an idea, i simply remodel them, maybe this helps :D.

@suvakas:
No,of course not, this looks really better then mine.
This was just a quick test render, to check if anything goes wrong.
So iam trying to fix my issues on the model and then i'll do a better render, even a longer one(this render took me 9min):).

@all:
Thanks for comments, next update in a few days..

greetings

Edit:
ok this is not indigo, but i've done a quick blender render, to show you how it should look like..

aha, you deleted the feet?
I wanted to tell you, that they appeared a bit too small, in my eyes.

Looks great!
Looking forward to the final render!

@xrok1: Is this the first forum you are in? You should try to learn some rules and obey them!

The lesson today is: Don't reply to threads that lay unreplied for many months if you just want to say something like: "wow good render"! You did it quite a lot recently. And everybody got confused, because they thought it was something new and then realised that it was a very old and dead thread afterwards!

What rules????????? Are there *any* published rules??? Maybe someone can enlighten me. :?

That's not a a particularly useful comment and in fact it is actually plain rude considering you didn't start this thread to begin with :evil:

There is nothing wrong with bumping an old thread especially if it is to complement the artist and secondly, there are a lot of new users out there who have not seen this thread and maybe it is worth reviving.

Forum Wars sounds good :D
Team Matrix vs Team StarWars? xD

sry^^

- That's a hard situation, I'd say...
I don't *really* mind, rolling up old threads, but many do...
It depends on "how" and in this case, I don't mind :)
