Nice work.

Can look at latest images (couple of days ago) from Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera:
http://epic.gsfc.nasa.gov/

To me it's simple: water IOR + roughness caused by waves (which is never constant, so much noise) ... so as long as it feels 'real'
Like in this 'closer' image:

Thanks Burnin

I totally agree with you about that, I will see if lower the IOR is enough, or if I'll add some roughness, I'm on other details, so maybe a render tomorrow

In "frontal" view does it work the same way?

..I'm not saying your image is wrong: only...there's something strange going on with it
It's also reflected frontally: you can see the sun reflection in the middle of each band in this satellite view: https://worldview.earthdata.nasa.gov/?p ... 6455940633
for tweaking match the highlight width, not its length obviously.
e: thinking that an eventual diffraction might be considered for correction, but it's probably negligeable

Yes I believe ( not because I am convinced of it but because of real pictures and physics ) that we shyould see some reflections even on a frontal view, more or less depending on the weather in the area and such various parameters.
This a render I made with a lower IOR. But I think the texture map should need some modifications on the oceans.

CTZn Tu parles du parametre "aperture diffraction" ou bien d'autre chose ?
Are you talking about the "aperture diffraction" parameter or something else ?

Je parlais de l'amplification du reflet du soleil dans l'eau par l'optique du satellite, mais ignore cette remarque.
I was referring to the amplification of the sun's reflection by the sat optics in the photo, but you should dismiss that remark.

Burnin, I didn't use normal maps for these renders
