Sorry, just believed that dust could be a candidate for simulate with mie_cumulus. Thanks for the correction.
The new machine (a dual xenon E5 2620 v3) arrives tomorrow so I expected to post some mist in a forest this weekend.

Yes Oscar. From nothing to this :shock:

Contegufo is so easy as use a box that surrounds your scene and apply a specular material with IOR 1.0 and some minimum values of absorption and SSS. There is a basic fog in the material database. There are three phase function in use, uniform (light direction donĀ“t affects the SSS), henyey greenstein (the light advances or tend to backwards determine by a value) or mie_cumulus that is for clouds, mist, vapour...

3000 samples/pixel and downscaled from 1920 to 1200 again. Extremely peak this time... but so beautiful.
In comfort with adobe lightroom and with a new monitor no more mistakes of color and darkness hope.
If someone wants I can end the process of the HD (maybe I do anyway :) ).

Working around with IES I realized that is not possible to simply apply the IES profile to the polygons of a bulb.
IES expetcs a simple polygonal plane. Almost here the light pattern of the IES is lighting from every polygon of the bulb with odd results.
Then I substitute some bulbs per polygons plane and the mie_cumulus phase per uniform and seems very correct.

Wow, nice one! To make the room feel more cozy, I'd make the light sources warmer, increase the contrast slightly, and lower the centre of gravity for the lighting slightly by toning down those highlights in the ceiling. Something like this

Yeah, that looks better! :) An unfortunate side effect of using Blackbody for the emitter colour, is that the images colour balance sometimes can appear slightly green-ish (like parts of your wooden floor in your latest version). Can be fixed with the white point settings. :)

mie_cumulus is the name that indigo gives to a possible way to calculate scattering; based in the theory of Gustav Mie about the behaviour of the light within little droplets.
Indigo can calculate SSS with three differents phase function (uniform, henyey_greenstein and mie_cumulus).

I have the latest exporter for C4d and SketchUp + (Indigo 3.8.26) but not implemented "mie_cumulus".
?
