I finally got the carpaint working. Not sure if it looks better or worse though.

Its not carpaint for my eye, needs more work

I simply used Ono's carpaint and made the colour red. I really don't know what to do next.

Needs to be more glossy, even with soft lighting the reflections should be crisp

I got a really horrible HDRI from a friend, who wanted me to render a car inside it. Not to let him down, I did it - but it required a lot of layers and a lot of editing to get an acceptable result.

As you can see, a much better render is coming. But why is the PP AD looking like that? It's not supposed to be all over the car.
