How much of the scene is full 3d? Is this a backdrop?

Re: Oscar's rendering thread
2D and 3D are impossible to distinguish in this one... awesomness.
Don't just sell the model, sell those pics to the marketing of aston martin

Wow didn't expect this many nice comments! Voytech: only the car and the shadow catching plane that it's sitting on, is 3D. I'm also camera mapping the backplate onto the plane so that the bottom part of the car doesn't become too much lit.

As the master of shadow catcher you should seriously do a tutorial.Oscar J wrote:Wow didn't expect this many nice comments! Re: Oscar's rendering thread
I will have to take that into consideration. Though it's really Indigo doing most of the job. For me, the hard work is the compositing in PS.
Here I've been working on a little render for my website. I render one alpha pass with the car, and then one shadow pass. Then I put them together with the backplate in PS, and try to make them match contrast- and color balance-wise. I suppose the reflections are a bit too much, but I kinda like that look too.

I really like the last render. Nice 80's feel to it. Excuse my ignorance, but what model is the car?
Re: Oscar's rendering thread
Looks like a Jaguar XJ220.

Re: Oscar's rendering thread
Hi, here's a high-res version of my earlier studio render, thanks to the Indigo team.
Re: Oscar's rendering thread
Looks fantastic . You really improved your skills during your wip topic!
Re: Oscar's rendering thread
Thats stunning! Properly beautiful.
If I'm being uber grumpy though, is the writing on the tyres backwards? Or is that normal? Me and cars, we don't get on so I may be wrong.
Superb work though.
