In light of some of the optimizations and improvements that have been made to Indigo lately, can you (Ono) give some updated guidance for recommended exporter defaults for MNCR, Bidir, MLT, etc.? Or should we always assume that the values in the inifile.txt are the recommended defaults??

Thanks.

I know you did not ask me but I usually change defaults to match inifile with that particular version of Indigo. :)

What are good allowable ranges for pre-scale,post-scale,burn,linear scale, shutter speed, ISO, exposure (ev), aperture, turbidity, environment map gain? Are the allowable ranges in "Violet" suitable for most people?

It is, but it wont affect your render, if you use reinhard...

I am curious to what RANGE of values should be supported by the various exporters. For example, what are the ranges in Maxigo, Blendigo, and Cindigo? Do any of them need adjustment?

for the perfect setting, ever!
For average Images, I'm quite happy with blendigo's standard settings^^

ah and ISO, shutter speed, et. aren't found in violet.

basically, burn, pre- and postscale should be enough for close to any pic, you want :)

it's contrast / dynamic range (higher burn will bring a wider dynamic range on your pic, but it will also bring a loss of contrast -> grey look might be the result)
gamma, but less destructive than using photoshop (prescale is sort of a smooth gamma, but the other way round. higher prescale means lower gamma)
and
brightness (postscale will directly affect the brightness of your image. if your pic is under- or overexposured, that might be the value, you want to tweak first...
higher postscale = brighter
lower postscale = darker)

Added some words on how to calculate aperture radius from f-number to the initial post.
Optics experts, feel free to correct me :)

I don't want to see any magic numbers and other hacks in any exporters for this stuff! :)

Ono:
Are Focal distance and Aperture Radius both "mm"?

Thanks, Riccardo.

No, all parameters in Indigo use base SI units, which in the case of distances is metres!

you only got intelligent hacks before because what you had didnt actually work convincingly -its been a hack in Blendigo for a long time without problems

...actually, I dont think what you have done is right... but nevermind...
