I would never suggest something that I felt would only benefit me... Materials help everyone.

so, you.
:P

Most of those (especially) metalic materials look rather easy to archeive... Just use a phong and add a texture... In case of the carpaint, it's maybe a blend of thee phongs.... (Two with a blendmap for that sparkle-effekt and one for an extra reflection layer...)
or via ISL...

Well, yeah, I guess I would be included.. Im not very good with mats.. there are much better people here, and the more of these get added to the DB the better..

Door woods are pretty easy. Just download a suitable image set from cgtextures.com or such and even with only one phong layer you get very nice results. Blend in a second (either diffuse or very rough phong) and you get some extra detail.

Anyways... why do you think that especially those 9 materials will help others. I dont think you mentioned them randomly.
And I also don't see a lot users creating soap or alcohol images...

You are never going to get better if you don't try. Why don't you put in a real attempt at these yourself. Then ask for tips if you are having troubles.

Unless I am mistaken, this section of the forum is called "requests". If I was going to do them myself, I dont see why I would even bother making a post. I just would have made them and uploaded them to the db.

The problem? Indigo has very little documentation and so it boils down to a lot of trial and error. Yes, I know about the manual, but thats mainly just technical syntax.

Most mats in the database come from trial and error because the people who made them took the time to try.

In fact it's a good way to get better. That and reading huge-ass books on 3d modeling/texturing

Yes, its still "learning-by-doing" in the Indigo world! Everybody of us has gone through this! The Help we give in the Forum is more some kind of aid, not a replacement for the lack of documentation/Tutorials etc.
Sorry, but we are not the "support hotline" to call...
If you want such service, buy a full price product and bother the people who get paid for this!!1!
We love to help n00bs, but only as long as we see them doing some progress by trying stuff by them self...

I hope you got the point.

I know, I was just saying you can't always have people do things for you and eventually you need to learn what values do what. It's not that complicated once you figure out a few basics. To me it sounds like you don't know what ior, exponent, etc do, so why don't you run some tests to learn what they do?
It would also be nice to see actual work from you too. Why should we help if we don't even get to see what you did?

I hope this doesn't sound mean or anything neo. I'm just trying to help.

search the forums and you'll find a huge, pretty recent post by me, which gives you nearly all the infos you should need. What's NOT in there, is textures, ISL and some highly advanced settings which surely aren't needed for those materials, above there.

Textures should be found or made by your own and the other two things aren't needed, so... find it and get to work.

I'll even help you out and link to that post for you because the forum search isn't that great at times.

ROFL I love Gregory House :D
It would probably be something like "Why don't you do it yourself instead of wasting my time I could have used to take some DRUGS?!"
