Possible tissue or impossible?

Post by contegufo » Mon May 16, 2016 5:25 am

Hi

Look at these examples (V-Ray).
The tutorial is that a layer with Fresnel is used. Indigo in the only material that provides Fresnel option is Phong whose exponent dve be brought around to zero.
The example that place tries but fails in order until you write few lines of code. See shader Passionated.

Cool pixie. :) Nick said he'd work on implementing a more real velvet material at some point though.

I think the problem of tissue (velvet, satin, etc.) should be addressed to developers of level because I have never seen, correct me if I'm wrong, quality rendering.

Hi

If a hypothetical client asks me a velvet curtain, or a satin cloth, what to answer him?

The pictures I sent were from Indigo...

There's a few things taking into consideration when doing velvet, it's not only the material, you have it well lit, even the 3d is of extreme importance, it isn't just attach velvet material and presto, you're done...

Hey pixie, I see you used texture in your last example. Did you lerped it in the code or?

I managed to get some really awesome looking results, really funky, by using a coated+substrate system, where the absorption of the coating gave that Fresnel colouring effect.

Do share! :D

I created a blended material, used Blue Fabric Material from material database and blended it with one I created on cinema 4d.

Sure thing, funkiness coming right up! And here's the material for everyone to play with! :D The base color/brightness is determined by the substrate.

It's a totally hip new way to drape your cubes and spheres! Honestly, if I saw anyone under this sheet I would instantly grab it off him/her! And then I would dance. Dance under - well lit scene. :D

I think you have made a mistake when saving the material, this is just an Oren Nayar, with no coating over it. You need to save the Coating material as PIGM, which will include its substrate. Looking forward to trying it! :D
