Hey Mor4eus,
This Shader marble patern is image based, just like this more simpler marble shader:
http://www.indigorenderer.com/forum/vie ... &start=180

The texture gets "morphed" with FMB noise :)

Hi Mor4us, here's the packed material, if your exporter can't open it you should know that PIGM files are renamed zip files; extract the content to disk then it should work. Note that it's not a defenitive version yet.

Like I did in the first picture up the thread, the one way to extract textures is to match a mapped plane with the camera. Mapping the target as emission in an unlit scene may work better. Some exporters may have more advanced ISL features (Cindigo ?).

Its been a while, but I have a question CTZn:

Is there a way to change the texture in the Material to some ISL based parameter?
Indigo does load your Material and renders fine... but changing just a single parameter, drops the texture!
Also Cindigo doesn't import it the way the material is defined...

And btw. Please Upload to the MatDB, its a pity that this material isn't available to the masses :)

Hey Zom-B

Yes it is possible to use something different than a texture but it would have several drawbacks; simply put that would be more computational-intensive for a lesser realism, and less user-friendly. At the end that would be a different material.

I would rather see the "referenced texture gone" bug fixed, but to be fair, we ISL users should report the few regressions that the feature has been through by the time, beside other improvements. For instance I found recently that params were not working anymore if I am correct. I'll take care of reporting those issues.

I did not upload the material because I didn't get in touch with the creator of the texture to make clear that it would not be a problem for him, given the transformations its work is going through with ISL :)

All in all I'm not giving up on this material, I'll get back to you soon with a textureless version.

Yes, fixing that issue in Indigo is in general the better way to go :)
I just thought that there might be some quick & simple solution for the problem,
at my stage of ISL skill I'm just happy beeing able to tweak some parameters to archive results I am aiming for :)

Well the immediate fix is to use Indigo 2 stable to tweak the material into an adapted scene before importing it back into your current Indigo version (as of 3.4.2).

I'll be experimenting with marble synthesis to start with and will keep you posted.

And by the way this is a call to whoever is fancy synthesising marble using ISL. It's a classic :)

Shape study. Constant absorbtion, monochromatic material. The tiled version would render incommensurably faster :)

Thanks. Amazing renderer, anyways !

Note that I'm using lerp's where I would expect a mapped float for octaves, twice the load I think (+50% rather).

Also the two ramps currently use the very same transition noise wich makes the whole thing too subtle not to be a waste of ressources. It's a wip really.

another known issue: this shader will look weird (layered) on small objects placed at the center of the world.

Cool !

I'm stopping the render after 12h, 3500 spp on my pc. It's a long time since I did a real render !

Awesome material; best marble I've ever seen!
Shocking!
Cheers, David

Why, thanks ! Scattering does a lot of good to the final look, the flat version is much less spectacular, although it converges in minutes. Just paste the shader into an albedo channel and remove the last multiplier ( * 400.0) to see it.

I'll try to have the tiled thing uploaded by the week-end. Adding relevant colors will be the real challenge, that may involve important changes to the shader.

Taking a closer look to it, it's more like alabaster, if cut into thin scales.
