Indigo material editing videos

Post by lycium » Tue Mar 27, 2012 4:18 am

I just mentioned these on our front page blog, so I should drop the links here too:

Part 1 - Diffuse, Phong and Oren-Nayar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxNF4NRYc7o&hd=1
Part 2 - Specular, Glossy Transparent and Diffuse Transmitter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PN9L14tPl5U&hd=1
Part 3 - Texture channels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-JQO7DRu98&hd=1

Feel free to leave comments/suggestions here! (Except about my strange accent )

"We'll use the Indigo font image, not because it's an appropriate emission texture for a pig"

Oh my lol, just what I needed

Some quite nice and professional done short-tutorial, congrats!
That little bit of humor you introduced is well portioned and spices up the whole thing nicely :)

Nice! :-)

But I think the glossy materials deserve a little bit of more attention, and especially at the diffuse transmitter you seem to be in quite a rush...

It is a good overview, but if I had not known what a diffuse transmitter is, I would be quite dazzled by now probably.

Apart from that, informative and fun to watch! Indigo needs a lot of this IMO, perhaps with links from the "features"-page? I know there is a technical manual, bit it really lacks examples, so newbies have to spent a looot of time at this forum.... if they have that time. I'll be looking forward for more!

I have to second that entierly. A sweet touch, there's no question ! And a welcomed surprise in my own case, laughing was the last thing I was about then :)

Yeah I did rush the DT, basically leaving it as a "perfectly rough transparent" explanation-wise... I guess some more words could be spared on blending it with a normal diffuse, like say in a 4th video which actually covers all that "next time" stuff ;)

Thx for the kind words guys, glad you like 'em!

These are really well done and professional. Nice work!

It's a lot of work but I think you would see a great benefit in continuing to release many more of these.
