Carpet in Blendigo

Post by thednx » Wed Jul 20, 2011 8:56 pm

Hi,

quick question:

in order to create a nice, fluffy carpet, do i just follow the usual Blender tutorial to model a carpet (particles, etc.) and the export it to Indigo and everything is hunkydory?

Or is there something special i have to do? Any tutorials on how to have carpet / fur / textiles correctly displayed in Indigo from a Blender source?

...am using Blender 2.49 and Indigo 3 Exporter.

Hi thednx,
I think in general it is not possible to display all kinds of blenders' particles within indigo. However, it works great with particle instances: Basically, you model some "hairs" of your carpet, and then use the particle system to attach them randomly to the carpet.
I used this to create grass here: http://www.indigorenderer.com/forum/vie ... f=3&t=8843 (also includes a description of the workflow and a link to Stompin Toms topic, who used this method much more skillfully than I did!)

Also check out http://www.indigorenderer.com/forum/vie ... =3&t=10966 and get in touch with kikeonline, who seems to work on a similar project.

Good luck, and show some results :-)

There was a recent thread about that with Blender used as the main modeling tool:
