External mapping

Post by Stinkie » Wed Feb 11, 2009 9:11 am

I'm reading quite a bit of questions about the new workflow, but very few answers.

Does anyone know how to go about things these days? 'Cause ... I'm lost.

Well, I just completed 12 external arch renders with the last stable releases of Indigo and Skindigo and it worked fine. So, unless you need displacement mapping and the light laters thing, you could always use the those releases.

True, but as you say, no layer blending. Pretty important to me - I'm anal. :)

I have been working to improve the workflow for the next release. I also will release a tutorial at the same time which should clarify things.

Here is a preview of the tutorial. There are some minor errors in it still but it is about 95% done. I would like some feeedback on the new workflow based on the tutorial. If something is really confusing, let me know. I will try to make it as clear as possible for the final release. I know it is difficult to follow a tutorial without having the actual software, but tell me what you think anyway.

The tutorial is HTML, just unzip and open it with your web browser.

That looks really great! UV sets have always confused me and that unfinished tut has already made them more clear.
