Absorbtion spectra

Post by neo0. » Wed Jan 28, 2009 1:48 pm

I gather that the slider sets uniform absorption/gain, but how can we individually set absorption for R, G, and B?

My milk is turning my entire scene black..

Which version, neo0?
Because in the older version you don't only have to set an opacity but an RGB SSS value too..

Not to sound callus or unappreciative, but why is the version skindigo that's actually up to date with the latest version of indigo a beta? You can't even load materials.

I think because the lots of things Ono adds and changes between two subsequent Indigo version are to be verified and checked carefully. It is either wait for a stable release (but for a long time, and probably the result would be buggy too, since I think it is almost impossible that a single person is able to check everything all alone) or wait for little demi-stable releases, which are surely buggy but allow to test a much wider range of features.
I think it's important to have beta releases: they give us possibility to help the programmers with their work.

Lol. If you're not happy with the programmers' work, do it your self.

Updating the code for loading materials is extremely time-consuming. There have been so many changes to materials since version 1.0.9 that I have not felt like taking the time to update the material loading code. You have to realize that we exporter writers have no idea what future changes Ono is going to make to Indigo. I always fear that I will spend weeks updating the material loading code, only for Ono to add some new material features and make all my work a waste.

Remember that you can use any material in the database by creating a Linked IGM material and linking to it. Material loading will not be available when the next stable release comes out but hopefully I will be able to add it again soon after that.

Did I say that? I was merely curious. Also, this defeats the whole point of feedback. If "go do it yourself bud" was the answer every time, what would be the the point of people providing feedback and suggestions?
