Material renders dark with bump map

Post by lrsuser » Sat Feb 09, 2008 5:41 am

Please see attached jpg
any suggestions?
In the scene that I am working on, this tile comes out almost black.
I'd like to maintain the same color/shade of tile as the one on left but be able to show 'grout' via bump.
Thanks!

:D
Even I sometimes I have experienced this problem, ... I ask all, the bitmap for the bump must have the specific details (es. grey scale or 8bit or more)?

Hi Irsuser!
Don't know if it is the right solution, but a value of 2 turns out to be a HUGE one, for me; perhaps it's because of this that your mat renders unnatural. Just to see, try a smaller value, like 0.5 (it will still be a big value, you'll notice  ): it should work better.

Hope I helped! :D

@ metapixel

I know there were some issues with the first version of indigo, but Whaat implemented program's capability of recpgnizing certain kind of fortmats, so i would say you don't have to worry about this anymore :D
