great work Ono! thanks

a question...

Is it possible to add a function to use a relative path instead of an absolute one in the external mesh? (Skindigo mesh settings tool window)
thanks!!!

Texture maps. Problem.

Post by rivera-b » Sat Aug 24, 2019 10:00 am

Hello friends.
I am applying a bump map to a material on Skindigo.
The material preview is perfect, but the render shows some large triangulation and no bump.
I've tried many variations.
Currently using the latest stable version of Indigo and the more stable version of Skindigo.
Trying to use the map for displace shows a disaster on the material preview, but actually no texture on the render.

Anyone has this same problem on the Mac platform?

Update.

Tried same example on Windows Desktop. Again, the material preview appears to be correct, but the render does not show any texture changes and only shows flat surfaces.

I tried changing texture map position and scale, using diffetent UV map numbers, re-sizing the original texture file... etc.

This shouldn't be so difficult, but it is hard to compare if all the steps of UV mapping are in the right order because the current Skindigo Interface for UV mapping isn't in the Indigo renderer pages nor the manuals.

one thing I noticed, the material preview bump doesn't change much when I changed the image size or the texture size in SU.

Where is this controlled then?

SOLVED.
I quit using the UV mapping interfase in Sketchup and handle materials exclusively on the material editor In Render.
Sorry for the noob question.

And thanks to user @Lal-O for the help.

Hi, thx for this new update :).

I'd like to suggest for next Skindigo releases to implement a different way to display the imported linked geometry , something like empty triangles, lines or dots that reprsents the shape of linked .Obj file. It is kinda complex and time consuming to imagine what you will get by only placing empty boxes all over the scene, so, it comes to my mind the next workflow : To open/import an .obj file in the INDIGO Stand Alone, edit materials and once is done, save the file to use it in Sketchup ( and also being able to edit materials, scale, rotate the geometry , etc, inside Skp , like any other Skp model :D.

What you think ? :)

Something like that for example 8) :

I have installed the latest version, but still receive this message when trying to render...
Can someone help?

Hi,
This is a strange one, SkINdigo is trying to write out the scene to disk but it can't write to the file.
Do you have Indigo open and rendering while you are trying to export from SkIndigo? That may not work.

I've tried both ways... nothing seems to work.
Usually, Indigo is closed... I've used it before and it has worked in the past, but when I upgraded to the new version, I can't get it to work anywhere.

The Denoise feature in Indigo 4.4.1 beta is really great if you need good renderings in a short time. It would be great if you could already select or switch Denoise in SkIndigo.

Hi guys,

Are you able to upload a new skindigo version that doesn't open your website everytime I startup Sketchup?

Currently I am closing the link immediately that will be increasing your bounce rate and effecting your SEO.

Thanks for this great post rendering software btw, especially the integration it has with skatter!

Cheers

Couple of bugs:
If you set filmic or linear to to less than 1 (like 0.4) than add two scenes. When you go from one scene to the next the value for filmic and linear jumps to 1e-7. (This can be changed later after export so not a problem for single scenes but is an issue for animations, although can be manually updated in individual scene files).

Also when you export a scene tab animation and you are using the Skatter plugin (not an issue with skindigo's scatter) none of the Skatters are exported to the shared scene file.

Tested in Sketchup 2019 with 4.2.21.3 and Sketchup 2017 with 4.0.56.1

Upon further testing: reapplying the setting, updating the scene, and saving, the Filmic setting is now be correctly passed to Indigo. Even though in the SkIndigo Render Settings 1e-7 continues to be displayed (it shows 0 after closing and reopening but is passing the correct value to the renderer).
