changing default paths

Dear all,
1/ Could Default working paths of Indigo be changed?
Meaning changing from C/users/appdata/... to whatever.
Reason: save to "data" hard disk to reduce the use of C: disk.
2/ Is it feasible to periodically "purge" those working folders without affecting further renderings?
In fact, after checking, those folders (TX, Material, ...) are full of files with amazing file's name.
