Render matched photo together with model
Render matched photo together with model
I'm still struggeling with photomatch.
What I did so far:
-modeled my scene with sketchup
-used photomatch to get the right perspective
-hit render and merge rendered perspective and real photo with photoeditor, deleted unessesary pixel from render
Attached is the quick result (yet there are no materials added).
The problem is: there are glass panes, and through these panes I would like to show the background picture.
Is it possible to render the scene together with the background picture? Unfortunately Indigo does not recognize this photo attached to sketchup...

Re: Render matched photo together with model
I think the best solution for this problem is for rays that go through glass like in your picture to be 'background rays', for the purpose of the 'render foreground alpha' mode.
I'll try and get this working soon.

Why don't you just Photoshop it? There's a glaring white border between the rendered bit and the background image that should be cleaned up anyway. Just replace the black with the background photo and Photoshop a slight reflection or sheen onto it. There already seems to be a subtle reflection, so just take that bit of the background and 'Screen' or 'Add' it onto the glass, maybe at only 80% opacity or such, should do fine.lape wrote:I'm still struggeling with photomatch.

Always the problem with alpha maps and glass materials. Is it possible to keep the reflections while making the transmission transparent?OnoSendai wrote:I think the best solution for this problem is for rays that go through glass like in your picture to be 'background rays', for the purpose of the 'render foreground alpha' mode.

Yeah, should be, with enough hacksStompinTom wrote:Always the problem with alpha maps and glass materials. A feature that would push alpha rendering even further, and be really useful!OnoSendai wrote:Yeah, should be, with enough hacks
I would LOVE to see that in the 3.6 branch

For now I have a workaround for my problem:cotty wrote:The beginning of a search after a solution...
I place a plane in sketchup behind my areas where I want the photo to be seen through the glass planes.
After I placed the plane I use the projection tool of sketchup to place the photo as a texture on the plane. This is not perfect because when I render the lighting on the texture is different, but here I have to use postprocess or adjust the brightnes of the texture.
Quite time consuming, but the only solution that works for me now.

Tricky indeed but it kinda works!

Re: Render matched photo together with model
Totally kewl mate but the shadow casting exactly on the line of the floor(i mean the tile of the texture line) makes it look like "too perfect". Try to dash it or smth on more unperfect angle. That sticky poster on the windows is it a phisically based division or is it supposted to look like a stick on a glass(sorry if im not using the right term)? Dont get me wrong I really do totally and wesomely like what is there, but I just got "that feeling" .
Cheers!
