Okay. We're starting a regular material competition. The winner of this competition will be the person that uploads the most materials to the material database, that are rated 4+ stars.

Rules:

* 4+ star rating is given by our elite team of judges, so user votes don't count (so no gaming)
* Your material must be BSD licensable (make sure your textures are allowed to be redistributed!)
* Material must load in the Indigo Material editor
* Uploading materials called pink, pinky-green, greeny-pink, green, greeny-blue, bluey-green, blue - is considered bad form and we will use our discretion to not award you a prize
* The leaderboard will be reset to show materials made in the past 30 days, so you can see who is winning the competition
* The judges decision is final and they may use discretion
* Competition starts the 1st of February

Prizes:

* An Indigo (aka Pink) Ipod Shuffle and a one-off customized competition badge

Wow!! This motivates me to learn correctly to use the material editor in detail (omg i feel so ashamed to have a lifetime licence and to not be able to understand half of the material editor!)
Even if it doesnt win, i hope if i create materials, it will be useful
Cheers!

This seems to be a good opportunity to fix the Users leaderboard, since it doesn't update since a looong time :(

Perhaps we could get back the "example images" we had in the old matDB? There are some materials that do give a better impression applied to an actual model.
Please bring them back!

How about using the current MDB scene, but with some thumbnails linking to gallery renders using material? Maybe have a section just for showing off materials :o

Well it's lucky you have a "lifetime" to get to know it better then :)

Hi

A little request if possible.
Some carpets would be nice. Something with particles that can be instanced.
Some ready to use model that repeats nicely, in known file format that can be imported to different programs.

Hi Whaat! Sorry to bother again: I have some problems using this material, some kind of script error appears when trying to switch to the first material of the list..
How can I fix this?

What is your error message?

If you open the material in the material editor, does it work?

Hi Galinette!
In mat editor it works just fine, only a little scale issue: if I simply launche the mat preview I obtain the attached image, which features LARGE tiles if compared to your preview.
I wrote to Whaat because I know it is a SkIndigo trick: the error says something about page scripts.
