MtI 3.2.12.1
This recommended update is opening a new round for MtI.
To use MtI you must first install Indigo. I personally want to encourage you to install the
latest Indigo beta, unless specified otherwise.
I want to apologize for the lack of documentation wich I believe should not prevent you to be started using MtI. See the short readme.txt included.
3.2.12.1
+ fixed: texture repeat applied twice
- Reminder: the baking resolution is the one of the non repeated texture
+ fixed: objExport counter-performing
+ fixed: camera is jumping while editing the rendering scene in Indigo
- Yes, this was an exporter issue in camera definition
+ restored: force refresh from any shelf button after unmanaged error while exporting
+ disabled: project type in Renderer Path window (temp)
3.2.12.0:
+ fixed transformations of geometry groups. All previous restrictions are released.
- instanced groups are also showing correctly in Indigo (as unique objects currently)
+ nurbs spheres with history are not forcibly converted to polys anymore
- By default nurbs spheres are uniquely identified as primitives by a parameter that the user can turn off. If turned off there is the new option, like for any non primitive nurbs, to display the tesselation (triangulation) issued from the nurbs. If that last option is turned on then subdivisions attributes become available to the nurbs and will be transmitted to the converted mesh as defined by the corresponding nurbsTessellate node. The mesh will prevail in the scene while the original nurbs will be hidden. Meshes resulting from conversion are grouped under the parent of the nurbs surface.
Be warned that NOT using the tesselation for conversion will potentially result in pretty dense meshes with an adaptative surface (uneven triangles density).
+ fixed post process aperture diffraction
+ particles (instancer) velocity aim
+ instant conversion of unsupported materials
+ autofocus is now default
+ fixed nkData path with indigoShader
+ cleaned scripts (auto)
+ fixed flocks of small bugs

I'm changing this post to list known issues that you may bump into, and workarounds when applicable.
It would be very kind from you to add about the most annoying things with MtI, I lack this step back. You are welcome to help in design choices, for your comfort. The trade-off is that an integrated rendering solution is not coming yet.
Listing some outstanding glitches to be fixed asap:
- The MtI Options window is messy and lacking.
- You can access MtI advanced settings node through the MtI menu. Not all attributes are used currently, most are.
More to come, add yours !

Thanks Yves !
Having the "transformed groups result misplaced" issue fixed is a big step indeed, and the new automatic material conversion, though trivial, comes in handy. Most scenes should directly fire up to Indigo, but most expectedly then lighting will have to be redefined.
I'm not saying that MtI is free from bugs, but it can now close a wound. Thanks for the help.

Is there any plans of creating C++ part of plugin for exporting geometry?
Does it still uses OBJ exporter for exporting geometry?
While I was testing this, some time ago, export of a medium to large scene was more than 10x slower than for Vray, MentalRay, Maxwell or Arnold plugin. And OBJ export has tendency to fail on some cases, especially if you use geometry generated with Revit and imported using FBX (mess)....
Otherwise great work CTZn!

Yes SreckoM, MtI is still using the objExport plugin and yes there are very serious plans to switch to the IGMESH format using a c++ plugin. I'll see to have it tested by the quarter.

I've high-jacked the second post to add a list of the outstanding glitches you may stumble upon first, for your information.
There's matter for more and by the way, anything you'd bump into first is of priority, let me know.

News: what you can expect next:
- Normal maps have been hacked in (needs refining).
- Orthographic cameras are ready to go.
- Support for near/far clipping planes (geometry removal). I'll introduce a custom section plane object at some point.
- The Indigo options will be found where they belong: in the Render Globals, beside other renderers options. No custom, messed up option window anymore ! I hated it.
- ISL values/code can be animated using mel commands (and attributes incidently).
- bugfixes, notably the erratic initialisation introduced lastly.
The update is not yet imminent; this post relates to my working copy wich is not stable yet but I'm excited about the integration getting better.

Hey CTZn
I just tried to install MtI 3.2.12 and it gives me an error when I click initialize MtI button on install end:
Code: Select all
// Error: fprint $xmlFieId (string(mti_GEN_model($parent, $shape))); //
// Error: Wrong number of arguments on call to mti_GEN_model. //
and after, when I click on the shelf it gives:
Code: Select all
mti_CHK_self; mti_EDI;
sourced mti_CB.mel
sourced mti_DG.mel
sourced mti_EDI.mel
// Error: Cannot find procedure "mti_EM". //
It doesn't do any thing else, so I had to reinstall the older version.
what do you think?

Hi ior,
Did you restart Maya after this unsuccesful initialisation ? That should address the issue.
It's a load order issue causing a conflict with the older, sourced MtI version. Restarting Maya after installation makes this issue strictly impossible.
I am going to fix this anyways. Thank you for telling.

VERY NICE! This handbook is really really helpful. Answers a lot of the questions i've previously had to search endlessly in the forums to find!
I'll have to read this a few times over, a lot of information hahaha
Thank you CTZ, your strength is legendary!
Love & Respect
