Cindigo Wishlist

Post by fused » Tue Sep 01, 2009 9:32 am

Inspired by Whaats initiative :)
Ill just quote him with a few changes:

Post 'em here. All items will be considered. However, I won't put it on my TODO list until another user gives it a '+1' :) (seriously)

Your requests are VERY important! Cindigo development is directly and immediately affected by YOUR feedback. Please help make Cindigo the best and easiest to use rendering plugin available for C4D!

'Export no geometry' return;
So that when other attributes beside the actually geometry itself are changed (such as materials, camera, etc...), the export can be made on the fly.

Complete scene export
A scene is made from several objects, and amongst those we can multiple cameras to chose from. So instead of building a new scene for each camera, user could have the core scene plus each camera exported with its own name (or having it incremented if the camera don't have an unique name).

File Hierarchy
Cinema saves its light cache files in a specific drawer so it won't get mixed with the project files. This concept could be brought to 'Custom Export path->Export to scene option' by creating an indigo drawer where the indigo scene could be automatically created.

Independent Units
We all know which units Indigo uses and still the user shouldn't have to care, after all if he's explicitly stating that he wants 1mm that should be convert to 0.001m since they're equal. It helps going around the clamp issues and allows the user to keep on the same unit it uses for modeling.

Sun Tag
Any object could use it, would discard everything but its vectorial position and add the correspondent values of the tag.

Background material
Add a sky object attach a material, and if it has emission pick its vectorial position and presto, background material added.

You know my request: Environment objects, so one doesn't need to hassle around in the settings to change the light type, sun position and so on.
The position of the sun environment object would be the sun's position then, for the others the position doesn't matter.
I think this is a better idea than the use of sun tag or C4D sky or whatever ^^

+1 to Complete scene export and Independent Units

Hi Fused (hi all)!
Congratulations for the last version of Cindigo, it´s a fine piece of software.
A small petition for future releases: ¿would be possible to add an IES profile section in the emission tag of the Indigo/Cindigo materials? Actually, its only possible to add an IES light using a spotlight and an Indigo light tag (otherwise this is a logical assumption). But it´s more easy to put a small emissive plane in a scene than setting up a spotlight.

Cheers!

I bet that a spot light with an ies is just a plane with the emitter applied.

Hi Juan.

Ah yes, i forgot that. I'll add it to the material.

But you should also be able to use IES on an area light. Just create an area light, add the light tag, enable "use IES profile" and select an IES file.

And yes, pixie. You are right :)

Improving the C4D material conversion so that it also accounts its color part on those materials which have a mix mode applied them, namely when normal is set and mix strengh is below 100% or in those cases multiply, add, subtract options might be set.

According to Doug's wish of longer shutter speeds:

http://www.indigorenderer.com/forum/vie ... f=5&t=7179

An input field beneath or besides the presets would be nice. You could select the presets in the dropdown menue, and there's a point called "Custom", or whatever.
What do you think?
Cheers, David

A "custom" choice is general a good idea for Drop Down... I would like to have something like this for whitepoint... but I don't know if direct numeral input is possible here!?!

Which presets? I read the topic but still am not sure what you exactly mean :)

Oh gosh;
I mixed up f-stop with exposure time... of course you can insert anything you want into the existing Cindigo exposure time field.
My mistake, please excuse and forget this completely!

No problem!

I was going to change the f-stop presets to a slider with an edit field btw, so you are not tied to these presets anymore.

Ritter also suggested that I could implement a checkbox that, if activated, connects the f-stop to the exposure (half f-stop means double of incoming light, or so) so you can easily change the f-stop without worrying too much about the exposure (or the other way around). I'll do that too.
