Viewport lag

Post by Heliodor » Sat Jul 29, 2017 9:56 pm

Hi there,

I have an annoying issue with viewport speed on my system, when I use Indigo materials in my scenes.
There are max 10 materials, metals and minerals, but plenty of objects. Object count doesn't effect much on working speed, but my materials really does.
Any hints to speed up my viewport in C4D R18?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hey Heliodor,

I have to admit that I never heared from such slowdowns, but we can try some "debugging" if you find some time:

- Do you have Advanced OpenGL activated for the viewport?
- Do you have some materials set to animation?
- does C4D cause some noticeable CPU while you are not navigating the viewport?
- does C4D cause some noticeable GPU while you are not navigating the viewport?
- is it possible for you to upload your scene so we can investigate the issue on our system?
- Do you have the latest NVIDIA drivers installed?
- Deleting all of your 10 Indigo materials does cause the viewport to navigate better? Can you tell us the viewport FPS with and without the Indigo materials?
- Do you use the latest R18 update: 18.057?

Maybe we can narrow down that issue by this :)

@Heliodor

Is the whole viewport affected? OR you just mean the viewport for the material previews?

Yes, the material preview window, dragging it with right-click for rotation is very slow...
But same it is for Vray and Corona for example... I asume its more of a C4D problem.
