Difference between internal and external rendering

Hello all,

I have several problems with Cindigo 4.0.51.
There are completely different results when rendering within C4D or exporting a scene to Indigo.
See these results with different light setups. On the left are internal renderings, on the right rendered with Indigo. Picture 01 was lighted with HDRI, the next two with area lights.

Have a look at the dispersion, too. I have exaggerated the cauchy B value to show the issue. There is no dispersion at all via Indigo. But it worked in the past somehow.

Oddly enough the internal Indigo-Render creates some black frames for no comprehensible reason, when the external works fine.

This is driving me nuts!

Any ideas?

Hello Heliodor.

Are you using GPU render mode?
Would you mind uploading a .c4d zip so we can have a look.
Also what version of Indigo are you using?

Yeah, you could first try to load the latest Indigo beta from the forum, deinstall your current Cindigo Indigo and then install Indigo and Cindigo from the main beta installer.
There shouldn't be differences in render approach!

Holy sh**!
I had no idea, this could affect such an issue.
Without GPU I get back dispersion, at least. (see _0004.jpg on the very right)

Yes, I had GPU mode active. My graphics card is Geforce GTX 750 Ti.
And my Indigo release is 4.0.48. This must be the latest available, isn't it, David?

But there are still some lighting and refection miracles.
I made an basic scene, without the stuff I can't share.
External rendering is still much darker.
And I wonder why reflections of the lights on the right and left are tilted in this test scene.

Thank you very much!

Exactly! Try the Cindigo installer from within the Indigo 4.0.54 installer!

Thank you, guys.

But it's still strange.
Have a look at the different renderings:
The frame on the left is rendered in editor, the middle one in Cinema's (R18) picture viewer and the right one within Indigo 4.0.54.
It's not only the different lighting.
Have a look at the reflections in the metal part. The right one alone is as it should be.

I'll have a look! Did you use a normal camera or the C4D orthographic view?

Confirmed! R17 Mac OS.

No matter what tonemapping, no different scene settings... I can't figure it out.
For the moment, the editor window renders what Indigo renders.
Very strange!
Plus: It's a very... sophisticated light rig you've got here.
I would try to simplify it tremendeously! But I think it has nothing to do with that problem.

Ok ..well other than the project missing the "PRO GRADIENT TEXTURE"
I did not get any big difference like you. On R18 Studio x Indigo (see pics)
But i did find something strange. Lights seem to be bent in Indigo? (see markings)

@Heliodor not sure what the problem might be.
Let's wait for the devs. To check. I can't reproduce it on my end.

I Edited the content of this message as I was saying something wrong before:

I had a look at the scene also.
The shift in lightness is obviously a gamma shift. of + 2.2

It seems like you converted the scene from a C4D Scene to a Indigo Scene. So I set the renderer from Indigo back to C4D and deleted the multi pass output. This can also be a source for errors and in the beginning I thought so. But it turned out to be not causing the issue.

For your scene it seems to work if you either set the Color Profile of C4D to linear or turn the Linear Workflow off altogether in the scene settings.

Cheers,
Raphael

Seems like the gamma settings are somehow broken.
Tried to add it into a completely new scene, same result. ???????

Thank you guys, so far.
The main conclusion out of your help is: I don't have to change the horse for the moment!
