Tell me your login problems!

Post by benn » Thu Oct 22, 2009 1:53 pm

Hi guys,

I know some of you are having problems logging in and out, but after a bit of inspection - I can't replicate your problems. If anyone is having problems logging in or authenticating using the site - can you please post them here with exact reproduction steps, including browser and operating system.

In extreme cases I may reset your password so that I can reproduce your password - but I'll then email you again with a new password - but yeah - please let me know:

(ps if you have firefox - try this fix for broken cookie stores... http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... 5&start=90)

Sup Benn

Listen i have been having an issue with logins for like, 2 years. In the status box it tell me "You are logged in as matsta. Log out." However, when i want to do anything, for example post reply or access a topic via an email notification it takes me to the login page and asks me to "Login to your account". Im running a fully updated ff3, I applied the fix you linked too, nothing changed. And it happened again while trying to post this reply.

Also used to happen on my old pc...
No clue.

Regards
Mat

Sup matsta. Are you sure you applied the fix? Because that's whack - your account it set up just like everyone elses (I just checked). Does this happen on any other forums? Is there anything else weird about your account or your registration on indigorenderer.com?

For me the "Automatic Login" feature is not working for the forum. (works for the main site)
Checking the auto login checkbox doesn't make any difference. Using IE8 here.

Nick had this problem too - but it was his browsers cookie store was somehow corrupted and he had to restart it.

I can't reproduce the login bug on any of my computers.

I did a clean system install recently and there should be no corruption.
I think you need to clean all your cookies and stuff Ben. I remember it worked a while ago so maybe you have a correct cookie (or smth) from that time when everything was OK ?

Sometimes - read 'seldom' - I find myself logged out. To me this happens mostly when I open
the browser and wanna take a look at the board. Then I realize 'huh' no new post scroll down
and find my self not being logged in. ;o)

take care
psor

Happens everytime i do anything on the forums, beside enter a thread. Had this problem on XP, Vista and my current release version of windows 7. As well as on 3 different computers. I somehow doubt its something on my side. Perhaps it has something to do with region or country? Not sure i dont know much about the workings of teh interntz.
