Ill give it a go..
Can I use a slight sepia tone? I think that would look pretty cool.
!! new site banner design competition !!!
Whoa! Whats the rush? We already have another contest going on too. You got to give people time to find this post, think up an idea, and then make it. Just like with the material contest where a week after it was over people were still submitting. Not trying to offend (too much, ), but dang do you run a tight schedule for a casual forum.

P.S. On a side note I think the website is perfectly fine as it is.

It would be nice to have some text on the banners. As the images themsleves are a testament to indigo's photorealism and quality (nice work BZ Win) let us emphasis that this quality is available to absolutely everyone!

P.S> This was radiance's suggestion (see the thread about the new site). That said, let us wait for his approval if he wants to make this official.

Interesting font.
Personally, I would advise against overlaying text over the main content of the images. It detracts from the clarity of both. Problem is the constraint on banner size. It is tricky. Maybe there isn't enough "real estate" on a banner for text and any text should be put elsewhere.
That said, one thing that might work nicely is to put one word in each of the thumbnail images. Seeing you have four images in a row, you could put something like - "Indigo. Free, Unbiased, Renderer".
As the images are more complicated at the bottom than the top, I suggest putting the words at the top if you decide to go that way.
