Any thoughts on fixing the UV seam issue with subdivision surfaces identified in 1.1.8 and previous releases?

I've had the same problem. (Using Blender/Blendigo.) The problem occurs when I use "Set Smooth" on a mesh (not sure what the setting is in SoftImage). The only way I could work around it was to turn off "Set Smooth" and increase my number of subdivisions.

What happens if you UV Map a plane and use subdivision surfaces? Do you see mapping problems?

Ha ha! Yes, I forgot -- 1.1.9 comes with the <nodice> XML tag.

Yes -- the equivalent in the XML file is the subdivision smoothing option, I'm guessing, which is what triggers the problem. If you do the subdividing before exporting, you're fine -- but that defeats the purpose of doing subdivision at render time. Plus, you need the rendertime subdivision for rendertime displacements.

If you UV map a plane and turn on subdivision, it's fine. It's just seams -- i.e. places where the U or V values change discontinuously -- that are the problem. See the bug thread for details.

Incidentally, this is NOT a Softimage exporter issue. I'm adding the subdivision tags by editing the file manually.

Incidentally, I just checked. The scene renders identically in 1.1.9 as it did in 1.1.8 -- same artefacts at UV seams on subdivided meshes.

hey I'm testing my script and IES lights arent working - the code works in 1.0.9 but not 1.1.x
has anyone else noticed this or is it something I am missing/messed up? (again)

EDIT
finally got back to this today - and it works! (same file) - odd indeed...
there must be a glitch somewhere in there I stumbled on - unfortunately I overwrote the problem .igs so I'll guess I'll have to wait to rediscover it

so you can all stop looking now

hmmm the issue appears to be related to using the Indigo UI
It seems it renders a scene only initially using IES and then as black in instances after that. weird :?
The console mode seems to work all the time..same file output from blendigo in each case
a bug for ono?

Linux builds will be made for stable major releases (eg. for 1.1.x when it stabilises)

Nope, I'm not sure if it's solvable, at least given the current information passed in the mesh format.
