I just used a 512*512 png, so it only works in Vista :)
I don't think so, see attached image!

I also can confirm the icon issue OuiOui mentioned on my Vista 64bit ultimate....

Out of curiosity. Is 64 bit version faster?

~10%
But the main advantage (for Windows, at least) is the far higher possible RAM-usage. (Ok, for me with 768MB, it's speed only xD)

A version of its own.

I dunno if Vista is the best choice^^ XP-64bit works just fine.

Though, sooner or later, everyone will switch to Vista and then it might not be a good idea to buy XP-64bit, especially if the switch comes sooner...

XP 64 is fine if you can get drivers for it, most places completely ignore the existance of it.

Vista 64 is better for drivers (it's req'd by MS for vendors that want to put the WHQL logo on their product to have 32 and 64 bit vista drivers)

I run XP 64, as vista is in general a dog.

If you buy the retail disc of Vista it does allow you to choose the 32 or 64 bit install from the same disc. OEM (cheaper) discs do not.

EDIT: or just do the easy thing and install Ubuntu or something :D (Ubuntu is on all my render nodes) Windows on my workstation because of one or two programs that don't run in WINE yet..

Using a 64bit System also your RAM usage raises for about 10-20%... Seems you are using good old DDR1 Ram or are you staying that low?
DDR1 so f***ing expensive if you compare to DDR2...
