And in fact i have been overhauling the bi-dir / MLT system.
It's looking very promising :)
But as i gutted a lot of code, it will be a while b4 it sees the light of day :)
Here's Radiance's scene that he rendered for ~24 hours:

Render time so far: 13m :)

and remember guys, my PC has 2 cores at 3.8GHZ.
nick's (13 min render) only has 1 core, and it's a slower core ;-)

looks cool! What sort of "gutting" are you doing? completely replacing the path-tracing code?

Could you render before/after images, letting each run for 30 minutes?

Nice to see you dooing this "bi-dir / MLT system"-Stuff!!!
But I would also love to get some Info what this means for Indigo!
Faster??? More accurate??? A New feature???

You have to know that everybody here loves your work, but not everybody understands it
Perhapes a comparison betwean a 30min render of 0.6T1 and your new code could help,
for guys like me to see what it does , just like "playmesumch00ns" said.

Btw:
radiance wrote:...my PC has 2 cores at 3.8GHZ.
WTF!?! Two Cores or perhapes two CPU's???

Wow, for 13 mins it looks really good!

I can't see the other pic though :( would it be possible to see a 15 min side by side comparison or something?

Heya Nik,

good that you're still alive ... hehehehe. ;o))

I've got a lil testscene for you. In this scene is a small groundplane
and a hollow sphere with three others inside ... like the Matroschka
thingy. All spheres have dielectric shaders and if I render w/o bidir
it looks like this:

Image

If I enable bidir the third and fourth sphere turn black. Maybe you've
already noticed this kinda problem ... if not, maybe it'll help you to check
your code.

You can download the testscene here. (~900kb .RAR file)

Note: Just replace the missing HDRI map with another one. If you don't
mind to download 21MB, then you can get the .EXR from those links:

Main: http://l-4.uttx.net/Indigo/HDR/photostudio.exr
Mirror: http://www.ihud.com/file.php?file=files ... studio.exr

take care

Bah, being alive... what's so hard about that?! Now, coding brilliantly w/o getting distracted by sex, beer, cartoons, etc... now THAT is impressive. :D

re: psor, damnit, now I have this compelling urge to make a really detailed matryoshka dolls mesh, all glass and mirrorized metals shaders... :P
