Regards.
There are more different between CPU and GPU render metod, it is development...I see improvements every new version and I always look forward to it :) Light layers on Gpu is one of the last Improvement and can be expected some discrepancies...

I have also discovered one problem.
Render glass material and use alpha background.
1. Glass as specular is ok. Background behind glass is transparent
2. Glass as glossy is not ok. Background behind glass is full visible

Related problem is - If I click on glass material and change from glossy to specular (or conversely) Indigo crash.

Hey pavoda,

Interesting about this Glossy T. alpha issue, I'll create a ticket in the Bugtracker about it, thanks for reporting!

Regarding the crash I can not reproduce this on my GPU and CPU...
Is this maybe on GPU only? Do you use the latest drivers?
Does Indigo create a minidump on next start? can you upload it?

Right, it is crash only on gpu render. But.. I found, that this crash is only during using 2 gpu cards together. If I deactivate one (No matter which one) indigo doesnt crash . I tried deactivate SLI too and it is no effect.
Drivers are latest.
Minidump is not create in this case. never.

Tested on MacPro with dual cards without issue, no multi GPU PC at hand atm :/

A small shout out:
If some of you guys around with a multi GPU setup could check if this is also happening to to you, that would be awesome

One more finding.
When I do change material type (even diffuse to phong etc.) durring Realtime preview in C4D it crash too. Again only when using 2 Graphic cards.

- no crash @ default settings, using 2 GPUs (w7, Q M5000 + GTX 1060 /// driver v. 378.49)
- 2 GPUs: crashes as soon as i change Glass to Specular (or anything else), in RTP & even when rendering is paused
- 1 GPU: changing material types using one GPU (any) it works

- no crash whatsoever on macOS
- changing mat types and rendering on both GPU's = all cool

Thanks a lot for testing burnin, after your report I organized some second GPU and tested by myself:
I can verify that for multi GPU systems Indigo crashes while changing Materials, even on the simple material sphere.

Thanks again for reporting, I'll add it to the Bugtracker!

Hey guys, not sure if this was reported before - there are subtle differences on how intersecting specular mats are handled in GPU and CPU mode.
The liquid and the glass are just specular mats without sss, WITH sss on it appears to be the same "problem". The liquid has a lower precedence than the glass. And may not be modeled perfectly.
On a side note: This improved much since 4.0.50, where the full bottle was rendered grey - I just updated and was actually more pleased with the results than before!
:-)

Looks like you just need to raise ray depth (under GPU settings). :)

Oh awesome!!
Will try that, thanks :-)

Hi guys! There's a bug when trying to rotate an HDR during rendering Indigo freezes and exits!

CPU or GPU?

CPU!
