I refuse to be associated with Australia, and Oceania is not a continent. And it is not a fact that NZ is part of the Australian continent because the definition of continent is sketchy. So there should be an option for independent countries. Independence ftw

If there wouldn't be a too wide range of possible answers, that could make a nice question:

or
"What's your parents current job?" ^^

He is a geophysicist. Looking at earthquakes. Nice place to do it. At the time when he was there the only way of communication was a satellite phone one a month. It was almost 20 years ago.

Maybe, it's a bit more effective to ask more generally...
For example:
"education" (teacher in *any* school or University)
"Office" (Well, sitting in an Office, d'uh)
"educated" (meaning, still visiting school, university, etc.)
"none" (because of what ever reason)

hmm...
