This is a Beta release.
If you spot any bugs or problems, please make a post about them in this thread.

In this beta we introduced quite a few optimisations.
One thing we optimised was scene loading times for scenes with lots of large textures.
We also now keep the textures loaded between render runs.

Some example measurements for Mor4us's living room scene:

Image

Time from starting to loading scene to render start:
Indigo 3.8.0: ~14.4 seconds
Indigo 3.8.1: ~3.2 seconds

That's a 4.5x speedup!

Time to start rendering after scene is already loaded:
Indigo 3.8.0: ~8.4 seconds
Indigo 3.8.1: ~0.2 seconds

That's a 42x speedup!

IndigoRenderer_3.8.1_Setup.exe

Indigo for Windows 64-bit:
IndigoRenderer_x64_3.8.1_Setup.exe

Indigo for Linux 64-bit:

Indigo RT for Windows 64-bit:

Here are some comparison renderings showing the faster MLT rendering :)

Nice update guys!

Great to see a focus on certain areas of Indigo be polished that much (OpenGL + MLT),
I prefer that over a wide spread of stuff :)

Yey thanks! Will try it out today and render out MLT stuff beyond my wildest dreams!

..don't know what it was, but anything that caused the malfunctioning of the environment map got away: this version works like a charm!

There's still a little mess in the order of the light layers, don't know if it's Indigo or SkIndigo related..

I seem to be having a lot of immediate crashes when I try to render a scene with Env Map + Sun... This was also happening for me in 3.8.0

Hi bubs, can you send us a crashing PIGS?

Thanks!

so far the crashes I had with 3.8.0 seem fixed, and everything is super speedy now - thanks for the update!

edit:
one thing I have noticed using OSX 10.9 is that Indigo does not remember the last directory opened when browsing for files to open, or when saving a render. it always defaults back to my documents folder. which adds up to a lot of re-clicking through folders, kind of tedious. not sure if this is something that can be addressed by Indigo (seems to be pretty much a Mavericks problem) but other programs, like Photoshop, don't seem to have that issue.

I dropboxed a file to admin.

Let me know that you get it ok.

Indigo 3.8.1:
i just went to 3.8.1 from 3.6.26 and did a couple of sample renders in 3.6 prior to upgrading.. tried the same scenes (via osx sketchup) after installing 3.8.1 and achieved similar enhancements as you're showing..

good stuff.
thanks team!

hmm.. found a problem:

OS X
one computer with 10.7.5.. the other with 10.9.2
both with indigo 3.8.1 and skindigo 3.6.25.5

upon installing indigo 3.8.1, i can no longer bring materials into sketchup via skindigo's material editor 'Search Mat DB' button and i get the error "Errors occurred while attempting to unpack the PIGM file."

i noticed this on my computer with the indigo license earlier today (the one with lion)..

i just now experimented on my laptop-- with indigo 3.6 still installed, i was able to bring in materials via skindigo.. i then installed 3.8.1 and prior to launching the newer indigo.app for the first time, tried to bring in a material via skindigo and got the same error ('Errors occurred while attempting to unpack the PIGM file.')

is there anything i can do to fix this myself?
thanks
