Indigo Renderer 3.4.2

Post by OnoSendai » Sat Jun 16, 2012 1:29 am

The big change in this release is the introduction of a long-requested feature, normal maps!

The normal maps can either be specified with a texture or a shader.

You will see a new control for normal maps when selecting a material in the Indigo user interface.

This is a Beta release.
If you spot any bugs or problems, please make a post about them in this thread.
Thanks!

WONDERFUL!
Can't wait for it to be integrated into SkIndigo, and make some comparison tests vs bump mapping!!!

Thanks Ono!

Thanks for the update, Ono!
A little annoyance in the OSX version since IR v3.4.1: the keyboard shortcut for quit the app and for reload a scene is the same, command-Q.

Great work you've done with Indigo for the last two years, guys.

Just to compare an old scene of those days. The color difference is because of possibly different camera response curve. I know, this is not ideal example, but it's possible to see the huge progress still.

Indigo 2.4.4 Beta, BiDir+MLT, 5407 s/px, around 36 hours rendering time.

Indigo 3.4.2 Beta, CUDA Pathtracing, 1087 s/px, around 1 hour rendering time.

Me buggy... =\
I've turned it off at the start to see the revealed image faster and didn't turn it on after. Rerendering.
