Indigo Renderer 3.0 and Indigo RT
Re: Indigo Renderer 3.0 and Indigo RT
Cool. That will be a preferred solution then for people who don't want to spend a lot of money now and when they like it and have the hardware can upgrade to a package that supports network rendering.
Also, I stand corrected on the performance, but this is on Windows 7 64bit. I tried it first on XP64, but can definitely see it's faster on W7 64bit!

I stand very much corrected even, Indigo 3.0 is FAST! 2-3 times faster than 2.6.1.Coen Naninck wrote:Also, I stand corrected on the performance, but this is on Windows 7 64bit. I tried it first on XP64, but can definitely see it's faster on W7 64bit!

Is it also faster without gpu acceleration?

Re: Indigo Renderer 3.0 and Indigo RT
Have had a quick play with v3.0 and all I can say is.....OMG!!! - on the fly changing of camera, materials, etc is soooo sweet. It feels faster as well.
Will do some proper playing with it later but what I have seen so far already deserves a big congratulations to the developers - nice work guys

Now! you need to update indigo's manual ... (screenshots are ooooooold)
and think to make it some official translations (german, french, italian, spanish...)
...professional!

Re: Indigo Renderer 3.0 and Indigo RT
One thing I've seen in 3.0 is that interior scenes lit by sunlight through a window (like Sketchup models of a house or building, but no glass in the window for simplicity) render a LOT faster using the GPU acceleration.
Comparing an i7 950, CPU rendering to GPU using a GTX285 (a fairly slow card, but it works), the GPU is 3 or 4 times faster. CUDA and OpenCL seem similar.

Also, on the same system, outdoor-type scenes are several times faster..maybe as much as 10 times faster...using GPU rendering.

Outdoor scenes are ridiculously quick with GPU pathtracing now. Even with a fair bit of glass and such, I've gotten full-rez renderings out in ~1 hour or less with Sun/Sky or Env Maps.sweetcement wrote:Also, on the same system, outdoor-type scenes are several times faster..maybe as much as 10 times faster...using GPU rendering.

Post 'em, so that paupers like me who don't have a supported gpu can drool over them! ;)

Hi all,
King Cong for this release ;-)
Is there a way to change the sun lighting or at less its direction inside indigo 3?
As a lightwave user, I do not have the chance to test indigo with my fav. software. Is there a chance for a plug-in that will allow lightwave users to work fully with indigo 3?
Best.
