Re: Oscar's rendering thread

I played around with that paint CTZn gave me (thanks) and came up with some interesting results.

Re: how to remove lots of red and yellow fireflies

Did you try rendering with the GPU? Are you using glass acceleration?

Re: Oscar's rendering thread

Improved the render, with slightly less IOR and improved wheel materials.

Re: Oscar's rendering thread

Ya think? It's 1.4. Not sure whether that's too high or too low. :?

Here is a more serious rendering try. Any C&C would be appreciated. :)

A few feature suggestions

I have a few suggestions for features I'd like to see in future Indigo releases. 1. Normal map support, as this is visually superior to bump maps. 2. Adjustable sun angle (shadow sharpness), as this would be very useful for cloudy outside renders. 3. "Shadow only" feature, that allow you to place an...

Would it be possible to make the sun's shadow's sharpness adjustable? I mean, adjustable angle of the sun. That would be very useful when rendering partially cloudy or cloudy exterior scenes.

Re: Oscar's rendering thread

I modelled rims and brakes. It really is looking good already IMO. Now I'll have to figure out a way to put a shadow under the car when rendering with a HDR. C&C are welcome as usual!

Re: Oscar's rendering thread

I figured out how to use both sun and HDRI - by increasing the gain of the HDRI to 1 x 10 ^7. The HDRI needs a lot of gain to show up in the reflections.

So here's a new render, C&C are welcome.

Here's a new render, still only Indigo sun. Modeled some real headlights, and the underside. C&C are welcome!

Re: Oscar's rendering thread

Here's a little step forward. Still haven't managed to get a HDRI working, it's got to be .exr, right? Correct! I am not aware of an inexpensive Mac program that allows you to convert .hdr into .exr but the Windows software Picturenaut has helped me in the past. I have a copy of Windows Vista runni...

No, no, I've already seen that tutorial. The glass is double sided. :)
